I'm Blue

It was so cold in my house that Eliza's foot turned BLUE!!!

J/K actually there was a crayon that was in the pj's it got washed with the jammies. I put the PJ's on at my parents house and my dad found the crayon. I did not think anything of it and I let her sleep in the PJ's and this is what I found the next morning when I went to change her Diaper.

Quote

I decided to do Christmas quotes today!

“It is the spirit of the gospel of Jesus Christ, obedience to which will bring ‘peace on earth,’ because it means—good will toward all men.”3

Giving, not getting, brings to full bloom the Christmas spirit. Enemies are forgiven, friends remembered, and God obeyed. The spirit of Christmas illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than things. To catch the real meaning of the “spirit of Christmas,” we need only drop the last syllable, and it becomes the “Spirit of Christ.”
~President Thomas S. Monson

To quote the words of Phillips Brooks:

Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight!
Christmas in lands of the fir-tree and pine,
Christmas in lands of the palm-tree and vine,
Christmas where snow peaks stand solemn and white,
Christmas where cornfields stand sunny and bright. …
Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight!
For the Christ-child who comes is the Master of all;
No palace too great, no cottage too small.

"Christmas is more than trees and twinkling lights, more than toys and gifts and baubles of a hundred varieties. It is love. It is the love of the Son of God for all mankind. It reaches out beyond our power to comprehend. It is magnificent and beautiful.

It is peace. It is the peace which comforts, which sustains, which blesses all who accept it.

It is faith. It is faith in God and His Eternal Son. It is faith in His wondrous ways and message. It is faith in Him as our Redeemer and our Lord."

Thanksgiving

Yes a bit late. This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Free's family. We had dinner at Roseanne's beautiful home. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures. My camera was acting weird, I am working on that.

Quote Day, a little late

I have been slacking with my quote days, so I figure better late than never. My Friend Mandy gave me this necklace that says Faith. Along with the necklace was a paper with quotes and scriptures so to make it easy I am just going to copy it.

"Hope is a gift of the Spirit. It is a hope that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the power of His Resurrection, we shall be raised unto life eternal and this because of our faith in the Savior. This kind of hope is both a principle of promise as well as a commandment, and, as with all commandments, we have the responsibility to make it an active part of our lives and overcome the temptation to lose hope. Hope in our heavenly Father's merciful plan of happiness leads to peace, mercy, rejoicing, and gladness. The hope of salvation is like a protective helmet; it is the foundation of our faith and an anchor to our souls."
~Elder Dieter F. Uchdorf

"And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise. Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope."
Moroni 7:41, 42

"Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us or the mountains, or the waves of the sea."
Jacob 4:6

For Emily

I heard this song the other day and found the Lyrics and this song is dedicated to you Emily. Here are the lyrics and if you go down to my playlist at the bottom you can find "Superwoman" and play it.

Lyrics to Superwoman :
Everywhere I'm turning
Nothing seems complete
I stand up and I'm searching
For the better part of me
I hang my head from sorrow
Slave to humanity
I wear it on my shoulders
Gotta find the strength in me

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

For all the mothers fighting
For better days to come
And all my women, all my women sitting here trying
To come home before the sun
And all my sisters
Coming together
Say yes I will
Yes I can

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

When I'm breaking down
And I can't be found
And I start to get weak
Cause no one knows
Me underneath these clothes
But I can fly
We can fly, Oooohh

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

It pays to watch TV

So last night I had left the TV on and the news came on after Jeopardy (yes I watch it). Well I heard them talking about the Smart Shopper Deal of the Day which was to get $50 worth of Thanksgiving Groceries for Free. Then I saw that the first 50 people to show their smart shopper card at 4 different Albertson's locations would get the free groceries. Well just my luck one of the Locations was right by my house so I rushed to the computer and printed out a card and then went to Albertson's. I was the 37th person in line so I got $50 in free groceries. It was so great, I spent the time in line waiting talking to the sweetest Lady who is in her 90's.

Quote Day

I thought a good theme for my quote today is courage. I believe that Emily is such an example of courage. I know it is so hard what she has to do.

"Courage takes many forms. There is physical courage, there is moral courage. Then there is a still higher type of courage- the courage to brave pain, to live with it, to never let others know of it and to still find joy in life; to wake up in the morning with an enthusisasm for the day ahead."
~ Howard Cosell

"If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it."

"It takes great faith and courage to pray to our Heavenly Father, “Not as I will, but as thou wilt.” The faith to believe in the Lord and endure brings great strength. Some may say if we have enough faith, we can sometimes change the circumstances that are causing our trials and tribulations. Is our faith to change circumstances, or is it to endure them?..... Faith in the Lord includes trust in the Lord. The faith to endure well is faith based upon accepting the Lord’s will and the lessons learned in the events that transpire."
~Elder Robert D. Hales

Oh Kids

So I put my kids down for a nap, (they were both being pills) I was watching a movie downstairs (since I have a mini Migraine ugh) I had a thought come to mind that I should go and check on my kids. I get to their room and I hear water so I rush in there and they were both in the bath with the tub full of water almost spilling over. Yes they were naked and just having a grand ole time! Man scary and maddening at the same time. When Brayden has an idea he will not let go of it until he gets what he wants!

Quote

So I decided to write the Lyrics to a song for my quote day. I was trying to find the song to have it play on my blog page but I was unable to do so. This is by Rob Gardner it is called "You have Nothing to Fear" I suggest anyone who has not heard it go and look it up and listen to it, it is a beautiful song.

You Have Nothing To Fear

Text by Rob Gardner

You have nothing to fear from the journey,
Though your way may be burdened by thorns.
For the Lord will be with you each step of the way
As you travel with faith through the storm.
And you've nothing to fear from your trials,
Though they may seem too heavy to bear.
Take His hand and He'll lead you gently along
And you'll find peace and safety there.

There is nothing to fear from the nights that are lonely,
There's nothing to fear from the cold!
There is nothing to fear from what might be tomorrow,
For heaven is with you, And angels watch over His fold.

You have nothing to fear from the journey,
Though your body is tired and worn.
For the Lord will send angels to lift up your arms
And He'll carry the burden you've born.
And you've nothing to fear from your suff'ring,
Nor the grief you've been called on to bear,
Take His hand and He'll lead you gently along
And you'll find peace and safety there.

Happy Birthday Eliza

Yesturday was Eliza's birthday, I have pictures but have not downloaded them yet and my sister has some also. She turned 2. I cannot believe that my baby is two! Man how time flies. She is talking so much now. When she is whining I will tell you to use her words and she will say to me "words" She is currently afraid of my Brother in law Blake. He would growl at her and she would get scared and say "I'm scared" then whenever she would see him she would say "mean" She had a good birthday just some cake and ice cream, some of my dad's family came over which was fun and Em and the kids came over. She loved all her presents, right now her and Brayden are playing with her dishes and magnets. Here are some pics of my baby girl!

Farewell

Sadly on Nov. 1st my beloved brother passed away. I have been thinking for days of what I should write. I am very sad for the loss. I know that Jeff would want happy memories so I am going to post a few things about Jeff.

He always made me laugh, whether because he was so funny or just being so silly. He always gave such great and personal gifts, he really thought about it. For graduation he gave us girls some mase, which shows how much he cares about us. Free was always excited when Jeff would call and ask if he wanted to go to a movie with him. Or if there was a movie I did not want to see but Free did I would just tell him to call Jeff and he would get excited and call him. Free said to me "Who am I going to see movies with now?" Jeff loved BBQ's and we loved going to them, he called us quite a bit to come over and have a BBQ. We would stay till sometimes 1 in the morning. Sometimes we would play Texa's Hold ' em and it would get so late that we would all become punch drunk and just say the silliest comments and laugh at everything! While he was in the hospital one of the times he heard that my back was hurting and he texted me to ask if I was okay and when we were there visiting him he was so worried that my back was hurting. He just cares so much for his family, always worrying more about them them himself. He was always worrying about Emily and the kids. When Brayden was younger and crawling he always would go to Jeff. He would crawl to Jeff. When Jeff would walk into the room Brayden would holds his hands out the Jeff. I could go on and on. Jeff was such a wonderful, Caring Brother and he will be greatly missed. I am not the most eloquent person with words so I am going to copy some words that my cousin David wrote:

"I was moved by the love that was shown during those hours. I don't know of anything that can be purer than a mother's and a wife's love, nor can there be anything so exquisite as their grief. I saw the courage of a father and the tender kindness of a sister. I witnessed the bonds of affection that tie family together, knotted with the peace and promise of a reunion scheduled for all eternity.

Jeff's struggle on earth is over. His course is finished, his battle through. With all the strength and tenacity that Jeff showed, it is now our turn to fight through this trial. The empty days and long hours will stretch until they seem unbearable to those who for so long traveled with Jeff along life's paths."

We Love you Jeff!

Quotes

Samuel Smiles wrote: “ ‘Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.’ … Hope sweetens the memory of experiences well loved. It tempers our troubles to our growth and our strength. It befriends us in dark hours, excites us in bright ones. It lends promise to the future and purpose to the past. It turns discouragement to determination.” 8

The Savior knows each of us in a personal way. He has assured us of His personal acquaintance, His awareness of our needs, and His presence in our times of need. He counseled, “I say unto you that mine eyes are upon you. I am in your midst and ye cannot see me” (D&C 38:7). Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles explained, “The Savior is in our midst, sometimes personally, frequently through his servants, and always by his Spirit” (The Lord’s Way [1991], 14).

I just have to say that I am so grateful for such a loving family. It was so nice for all who came to give support at the hospital, just being there shows great love. For the phone calls, Tiff thank you for the sweet message. For being willing on a moments notice to babysit. For just being there for eachother. I am also so grateful for the support of family friends, the visits by neighbors and ward members. It really shows what a wonderful church we are apart of. Thank you for all of the prayers for Jeff.

Brayden and Eliza

Well it has been a while since I have posted about what is going on. Same old stuff just hanging with the kids! Free is doing really well in school and work, he has all A's and I am very proud of him. Admittedly it is tough having him gone all the time but I know that it is so worth it.
Lately we have had some trouble with Brayden sleeping. He would always want the light on even with his night light and he would not sleep very well. One morning I went into his room to get him and his eyes were so tired looking and he was just staring into the ceiling, I could tell he had not slept, the poor kid. Then that causes him to be pretty grumpy during the day. I know that he has been getting scared all the time. Which is funny because he loves all of the Halloween stuff we see in stores and yet I think it scares him. So my mom suggested that we have Liza sleep with him so now she is in his room and he is totally fine. He sleeps so well and he even asks me to turn the light off. I think she likes being with her brother also. They just love eachother so much.

quote

Yes I know that it is Wednesday and I usually do my quotes on Thursday but I just decided to do it today. This is from the recent General Conference:

"I begin by mentioning one of the most inevitable aspects of our lives here upon the earth, and that is change. At one time or another we’ve all heard some form of the familiar adage: “Nothing is as constant as change.”

Throughout our lives, we must deal with change. Some changes are welcome; some are not. There are changes in our lives which are sudden, such as the unexpected passing of a loved one, an unforeseen illness, the loss of a possession we treasure. But most of the changes take place subtly and slowly.

This is our one and only chance at mortal life—here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and then they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and non-existent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey—now."

~ President Thomas S. Monson

VOTE NO ON 201

Proposition 201 is not a good proposition. It will cause home builders more money thus hurting our economy and housing market more. Not to mention the fact that it will lead to more job losses. As a person who is already worried about my husband losing his job I do not need any more added reasons for home builders to lay off their employees. This proposition does not only hurt new home builders it also effects anyone who will ever sale a house, which is basically everyone.
Here are some more reasons to vote no:
1. It prohibits two parties from agreeing to resolve their disputes without going to court and hiring attorneys.
2. It forbids the seller of new homes from recovering any attorney's fees even if the case was frivolous or if they win.
3. It allows prospective buyers to file lawsuits so you do not even have to own a home to file suit.
4. It assures that all disputes, either large or small, go to court raising costs for everyone. If these disputes go to court, it assures us that homeowners will wait years until their issue is resolved or their homes get fixed.
5.With proposition 201 litigation is the only option. To make matters even worse, they eliminate the "Loser Pays court fees" statutes. Without that statute lawyers are encouraged o go to court. Everyone loses except the attorneys.

PLEASE VOTE NO ON 201!

Happy Birthday Jeff

Today is my brother Jeff's birthday. So Happy Birthday! I few nice things about him. He is always positive and happy, even now while fighting Cancer he has been very upbeat and positive about it. He thinks of others, is willing to help people out whenever they need it. He will go with Free to the movies I do not care to see and Free always has a good time. He is really good at giving presents for example one year he had me for Christmas and he got me the best present that year, a football and some basketball cards that I was dying to have, and yes I still have all of them. (I know I can be a tomboy) He is a great brother and a great uncle and great dad! So eventhough it is not the best birthday having to deal with everything I still wish you a great day!

My stroller

So I was able to get this double jogging stroller for a really good price. I have to say that I love it! Since getting it on Wed. I have already taken it jogging four times. It is so nice to be outside with the kids jogging. My neighborhood is wonderful so many great sidewalks to jog on. It is so fun to go up to the clubhouse and jog by the golf course, so pretty I just love it. Plus my kids love going in the stroller they ask to go in it and are so good. Brayden gets upset if I do not stay out long enough. It has been such a great stress reliever, with Free gone most of the time and doing homework for the rest I have had a hard time, but having this stroller and being able to jog in the mornings has really helped me be able to deal with being a single (school) mom. I just have to say I love this stroller! So easy to push!

Vote yes on 102

Many of you know—and ALL of us should know—about the upcoming proposition 102 in our state. This proposition is about defining marriage. I was SHOCKED to find out the magnitude of how this issue could affect us as mothers. It is stated on the Church’s website that if this Proposition does not pass and same-sex marriage is legalized in our state, it could lead Arizona to have to declare same-sex marriages as a civil right. This would protect those in a same-sex marriage under the same discrimination laws as those defined by race, age, religious preference and so on. Here are some examples of what this could mean:

1. Churches, including OUR church, would be required to allow marriages of any kind to be performed in our chapels. If a same-sex couple wanted to be married in an LDS church, the Church would be unable to stop this due to discrimination laws.

2. Churches, including OUR church, could lose its tax exemptions and benefits if they do not embrace same sex unions.

3. Schools would be required to teach both heterosexual and homosexual relations as morally neutral and further erode our ability to teach our children traditional standards of marriage.

4. The LDS adoption agency would have to allow adoptions to both heterosexual and homosexual couples. This happened to the Catholic adoption agency in Boston and, as a result, rather than be forced to allow adoption to homosexual couples, Catholic Charities stopped offering adoption services in that city!

5. Married housing for same sex couples would be required at universities, including religious schools and universities.

This is scary!! To me, it is scary because it is saying that a group of people can make a choice in their lifestyle and then force lawmakers to make that choice a protected class. It is scary because it literally infringes upon the separation between Church and state, one of the most basic, fundamental beliefs of what made this country come into being and what makes it unique and wonderful.

This Prop. is not about rights...this Proposition does not discuss in any way the things same-sex couples are able to do as far as hospitization rights or medical care, fair housing, employment opportunities, or any of these subjects. And, in fact, the Church has even issued a statement saying they don’t object to those rights for same-sex couples. The media would have many believe that this Proprosition is about defining rights, but it is not. It is very, very simple—20 simple words…”Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.” That's it!

Make sure you all are registered, you can still request a mail in ballot Go to www. azsos.gov, scroll down and click on 'Vote Arizona'. Then click on “County Contacts”, choose the county you live in and follow the link to “Request your Early Ballot”.

Today's quote

I just thought I would do this quote in honor of Free!
Very simple but I think it is great!

" I am a strong believer in luck and I find the harder I work the more I have of it"
~Ben Franklin

Freeman

So this is totally a braggy post but I do not care. I just have to say I am so proud of Freeman. He is currently taking Pre Calculus Chem 130 and Bio 181 while working full time 50 hours a week. His Biology class is the harder biology for majors, so all the pre med people nurses pharmacy etc. have to take it. Well he had a test in that class last week. Free went in yesterday to class and he got his test back. The Teacher said that the average of the class for the test was 50% pretty low,so she did her own curve to help the class. Before the curve Freeman got a 99.5% on the test! After the curve he got a 109% I am so totally impressed! He got the highest grade on in the class, a class that averaged 50% I just have to brag because I think this is so amazing! Free works so hard and I am so proud of him.

Quote Day YAY!

This is a good one! I do quote day because as you can see it has been a week since my last post!

"My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we got through life, we "accentuate the positive." I am asking that we look a little deeper for the good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment and endorse virtue and effort."

Help

So my phone decided to not work right. I can hear people when they call or I call them but they cannot hear me. I went to Verizon and of course the could not help me. I cannot get a new phone until November otherwise I have to pay 150 min for the cheapest phone they have. Well times are tight and we just bought Frees school books so really I do not have that kind of money. So I was just wondering if anyone had an old Verizon phone that I could borrow for a few months, until Novemeber? I know most of you are with other companies but I thought it does not hurt to ask. Thanks

Quote Day

Here is my quote for today:

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a hight degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey...delays, side tracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

Baby Steps

So I have been working on Potty training Brayden. I have to say it is not one of my favorite things about being a mom. Anyone who has potty trained a child knows of the ups and downs that come with it, of the celebrations and frustrations. Brayden has been doing pretty well with going potty in the toilet, not perfect still a few accidents. We have struggled with going poop. Well yesterday Brayden did it! he went poop, yes I know this is a silly thing to blog about but I tell you it was a huge moment in our house. I even made Brownies at 8 in the morning (I told him we would make brownies if he pooped). So one step closer to being all the way potty trained! Yay Brayden.

My Brother

I just want to write a shout out to my Brother. He is such a strong guy. He is a great brother and such a wonderful father and a great uncle. He definitely keeps life interesting. He is always so humorous even when he is telling his family that his cancer has returned. He is currently in the hospital getting tests done and awaiting stronger Chemo. This is a hard trial that he has to go through but I know that he will be able to do it. He is so positive about this. I know that he will make it through. He is in our prayers! We love you!

Happy Birthday Brayden

Today Brayden turns 3! I cannot believe it! Time sure does fly. He was so excited about today being his birthday. When he woke up the first thing he wanted to do was call his daddy to tell him it was his birthday. I let him pick out a cake mix at the store and he is anxiously waiting for me to make it for him. He also got to pick out some big boy underwear (he picked out Thomas the Train) and yesturday he wore it and stayed dry all day and today he is wearing some again! He is so excited to be a big boy. Wow 3 years old!

Scary Moment

So today I was talking on the phone to my Sis. in Law. I was just thinking about the conversation we were having and not paying attention to what was going on around me. Well Brayden managed to take this tape measure that Free has. It is big and bulky and very hard metal, long and easy to unwind. I was sitting on my computer and I could hear Liza crying a bit nothing out of the norm. I see from the corner of my eyes Brayden's door open and Liza is standing there completely covered with the tape measure. It was mere centimeters away from her neck, every time she moved it started to choke her. I ran into his room and held her and slowly took it off of her. I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I do believe that children have guardian angels watching out for them. Needless to say that measuring tape is put away where they can no longer get it. I had a long talk with Brayden about the damage that could have happened. So Scary.

D-Backs game

So quite a while ago Free and I were able to go to a Diamondbacks game thanks to the Elgrens. My dad and Craig Elgren went with us, it was a lot of fun. We had some nice seats between home plate and first base. Too bad the D-backs lost, but while we were there Johnson tied the record for most strike outs so that was pretty cool. Thanks to Melanie and Clark for Babysitting

California Vaca

We had the pleasure of going to Oceanside CA, for the fourth for a whole week. It was a family reunion and my kids had so much fun. Sadly Free was unable to go because he had school. Here are some pictures of the fun.

Potty

So I have been working a bit with Brayden and the whole potty training thing. I have taken the approach that when he is ready we will do it. Well last week he went a few times no big deal. Well This week has been great. Yesterday he went in his potty chair 4 times. He had a dry diaper all day except for when he took a nap. Today he has already gone twice! I am not too pushy or as determined as I should be but Brayden is doing awesome. I just have to get him used to the idea of Underwear! I know that we still have a long ways to go. This definitely is a great start!
YAY for Brayden!

Curious George

Shea Homes sponsors the curious George show on PBS. They also have the slogan "read with your child 15 min. a day" Well since Free works for Shea homes and owns a Shea Home we were invited along with other Shea homeowners to a reading program. We went a couple of weeks ago and they had a reader who read some books and then a special guest came. Curious George! My kids were so excited. Eliza ran right up to him and gave him a hug, it took Brayden a bit to get the courage but then he went up to George also. Eliza had George hold her and she would not let go, I had to go over there and pry her out of his arms because she just wanted to stay with George. Then they gave the kids a really cute monkey hat. My kids loved it. So here are some pictures!

Sweet little moments

Having children as close as I did, 15 months apart, does have its challenges. Many times I feel like I have twins. For instance at their ages now they are both going through the terrible twos, so i get the pleasure of learning to deal with two sets of tantrums. Through it all I would not change the fact that I had them as close as I did. I love it, and yes they fight a lot and I still sometimes have to carry both of them, I am just grateful for these sweet little moments they share together. Like when Brayden will find Eliza's blanket for her, or this morning Eliza carried Braydens Lamby upstairs to give to him. Or when they will stand together and watch the rain. Or this picture says it all.

My new child

So my parents are on an excursion to the great country of Australia. While they are gone I have the privilege of watching their dog Callie. She is a nice dog, little and very well behaved. She is another child though. She follows me wherever I go in fact right now she is sleeping at my feet. If I go downstairs she runs downstairs with me, when I am on the coach she jumps up and lays her head one me. So now I have three kids. Actually my kids love her. Brayden asks where she is every time he wakes up from a nap or bed. Eliza looks for her when I get her out of bed and she is not happy until she sees her. She is a good dog and has been great so far. No accidents knock on wood. Hopefully this will last the whole time we have her.

A Man

So the other day Free was putting Brayden's pj's on after his bath and he was talking to Brayden saying that he needed to go to bed. Brayden did not want to go to bed. Well after Brayden was all dressed he got up and said "I'm a Man!" Meaning he does not need to go to bed because he is a man! It was so funny.
