Relay for LIfe

This year I am participating in the Relay for Life in Gilbert, AZ. This event is put on by the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research. As you know I lost my brother on Nov 1, 2008 to cancer. This devastating illness has taken him from us. There needs to be further research so that others do not have to suffer.

The Relay For Life is where people who have lost family members to cancer or have survivors of cancer get together and walk/run all night to raise money to find a cure for cancer. Its all night because Cancer never sleeps! They do a wonderful program to honor those who have lost the fight to cancer.

Cancer touches all of us. I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected in some form or another.

If you are able, please donate to my team and help me help the fight against cancer.

Quotes, a little late

So this week Free and I have to do sharing time, the Primary theme this year is all about families so in light of that I thought I would have my quotes be about families.

My sense of gratitude stems also from blessings to my family. It is the sealing power and our knowledge of it which changes and transforms our family life here and our expectations for the joy of family life in the world to come. The thought and the hope that I can have eternal relationships carries me through the trials of separation and the loneliness which are part of mortal existence. The promise to the faithful in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that we may have associations and an expansion of families in the eternities. That assurance changes forever and for the better all of our associations in families.
Henry B. Eyring

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. ~Jane Howard

The great gift of family life is to be intimately acquainted with people you might never even introduce yourself to, had life not done it for you. ~Kendall Hailey, The Day I Became an Autodidact

He knows that only in eternal life can those sacred, joyful associations of families endure. The ultimate purpose of what they taught and of what we teach is to unite families: husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, ancestors, and finally all of the family of Adam and Eve who will choose the way of unity.

Quotes

Since my cousin Tyler is getting married tomorrow I thought I would do some love and wedding quotes today!

With love in the wedding cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it;
Whenever you're right, shut up.

We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

How sweet is the assurance, how comforting is the peace that come from the knowledge that if we marry right and live right, our relationship will continue, notwithstanding the certainty of death and the passage of time.

A Friend's Love says: "If you ever need anything, I'll be there."
True Love says: "You'll never need anything; I'll be there."
-- Jimi Hollemans

Give me a kiss, and to that kiss a score;
Then to that twenty, add a hundred more;
A Thousand to that hundred; so kiss on,
To make that thousand up a million,
Treble that million, and when that is one,
Let's kiss a fresh, as when we first begun.
-- Robert Herrick

The greatest happiness of life it the conviction that we are loved - loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.
-- Victor Hugo

Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything.

Germaine Greer

Quote Day is back

I have totally been slacking and not writing my quotes. Todays quote comes from the First Presidency message in the Ensign, I really liked it.

"We live in troubled times. Doctors’ offices are filled with individuals who are beset with emotional problems as well as physical distress. Divorce courts are overflowing because people have unsolved problems. Human resource administrators in government and industry work long hours in an effort to assist people with their problems.

One human resource officer assigned to handle petty grievances concluded an unusually hectic day by placing facetiously a little sign on his desk for those with unsolved problems. It read, “Have you tried prayer?” What he may not have realized was that this simple counsel would solve more problems, alleviate more suffering, prevent more transgression, and bring about greater peace and contentment in the human soul than could be obtained in any other way.

A prominent American judge was asked what we as citizens of the countries of the world could do to reduce crime and disobedience to law and to bring peace and contentment into our lives and into our nations. He carefully replied, “I would suggest a return to the old-fashioned practice of family prayer.”
